Welcome to Kensington Primary School

Would you like to be part of an exceptional school that empowers you to make a difference in an incredibly supportive environment? As recognised leaders in curriculum, wellbeing, special needs, multilingualism, and so much more, this is your chance to be part of an amazing team. If this is something you’re interested in then we’d love to have a chat.

Why Kensington?

Kensington is, ‘a place everyone loves to be’. It’s our vision and it is what we work to achieve every day. We have amazing children and families who are committed and want the best for their children. Behaviour is exceptional and the school is characterised by happy, smiling children, parents and staff who genuinely love being here. It is not without challenges but that just means you have more opportunity to make a difference.

Our unique curriculum - Curriculum K - enables our children to realise the opportunities and face the challenges of the 21st century. With health at its heart, it inspires everyone to be physically and mentally healthy. Our pioneering work on wellbeing has seen us contribute to the Department for Education’s Wellbeing Charter and be a founding school in the Well Schools movement. We are also leading the way in our approaches to multilingualism, feedback, behaviour management, and much more.

Our work at the cutting edge of 21st century education has been recognised by OFSTED, the Teaching Awards, TES, Inclusion Quality Mark, Carnegie, and many others. We were Primary School of the Year in 2020 as well as the Health and Wellbeing School of the Year. We are a flagship school for the Inclusion Quality Mark and a Gold Mentally Healthy School. In December 2021, OFSTED visited and rated us Outstanding again. We regularly have visitors from all over the country and abroad coming to find out more about what we are doing and we are regularly sharing our practice at conferences and seminars.

Children first

At Kensington our children are at the heart of everything we do. In practice this means we carefully consider whether everything from marking to displays impact on learning and, where they don’t, we change them. All our staff focus their time on what really makes a difference for our children: not paperwork or pointless tasks!

Unparalleled career development

We are fully committed to helping you grow and develop. Our tailored CPD programmes provide clear pathways for your development, all supported by a dedicated coach. We have supported many of our teachers to progress into middle and senior leader roles. If this is your ambition, we would be delighted to support you.

Making a difference

At Kensington you truly are making a difference. Many of our children have recently arrived in this country, others face substantial challenges. Whatever their background, school is often their sanctuary. They are incredibly eager to learn, make astounding progress, and repay your dedication with a faultless attitude to their work.

Safeguarding

The Tapscott Learning Trust and its member schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people in accordance with our child protection and safeguarding guidelines and we expect all staff to share this commitment.

The posts you apply for with us are classed as having a high degree of contact with children and involves “regulated activity”. As such it is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. It is an offence to apply for a role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.

All post holders are subject to the necessary pre-employment check, including a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check, including a Children's Barred List check (where applicable to the role in question). Additionally, shortlisted candidates will be subject to online searches for publicly available information.
